Questions and answers

The questions people actually ask about Magic Ball.

Does it need a network connection?

No. The app contains no networking code and makes no request of its own. The one moment anything crosses the network is when you tap Recommend another app, which asks iOS to present Apple's own store card — Apple fetches and renders it, and the app sends and receives nothing.

How many languages does it speak?

Nineteen. The interface and the fortunes are both localised. Whether an answer is spoken depends on which voices are installed on your device, which you control in iOS Settings.

Is there an account?

No. There is nothing to create, nothing to sign in to, and nothing stored outside the app.

Does it work on Apple Watch without my phone?

Yes. The Watch app is standalone, and the complication updates hourly.

Does it really know the answer?

No. It picks at random from phrases written by hand, and it cannot hear the question — the app uses no microphone and performs no speech recognition. Nothing it says is advice of any kind, and it should not decide anything that matters.

Is this the Mattel toy?

No. This is an independent app, not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by Mattel, Inc., or any maker of a physical fortune-telling toy. Everything in it — the predictions, the artwork, the sounds — was written or made for this app.
